Frequently Asked Questions

AutoShare is designed to be transparent by default. Below are answers to the most common questions we receive.

Is AutoShare insurance?

No. AutoShare is a member-to-member cost-sharing cooperative. It is not an insurance product, and participation does not guarantee reimbursement for any specific repair.

What happens if the fund runs low?

The pilot phase is intentionally limited in size to monitor contributions, repair frequency, and sustainability. Payouts are never guaranteed, and program rules may be adjusted as needed to protect long-term stability.

What if I never need repairs?

AutoShare is designed to share risk across members. Some members may not need repairs during the pilot, while others may. Over time, the goal is collective stability rather than individual gain.

Who decides what repairs are eligible?

Eligibility rules are defined in advance and refined during the pilot. Founding members may provide feedback, but decisions are made based on consistency and sustainability.

Is this legal?

AutoShare is structured as a cooperative cost-sharing program, not insurance. Legal guidance is being used to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.

Can I leave the program?

Yes. Participation is voluntary, and members may exit according to the terms defined during enrollment.
